Service Description: Provides a safe and secure refuge to women in crisis and/or are victims of abuse and their children * offers temporary accommodation * provides the following services:

Temporary residential emergency shelter service:
  • offers a 10 bed emergency shelter
  • emergency transportation to come to the shelter
  • provides food, basic necessities, laundry facilities, private bedrooms, children's play areas and some storage area
  • provides emotional support, information and referrals
  • provides assistance in accessing housing, financial aid, child care and legal representation
  • provides advocacy and accompaniment to appointments
  • safety planning with women & their children

Transitional housing and support service:
  • helps to locate and maintain safe housing
  • offers safety planning, advocacy, information about rights, accompaniment to appointments, referrals, court support and ongoing emotional support

Children's services:
  • provides one-on-one support to children in the shelter

Drop-in service:
  • available to women not currently in the shelter
  • offers support, information and referrals, emergency food or clothing and household items

Outreach services: provides once every 2 weeks in Chapleau, Hornepayne and White River
  • information sessions
  • guest speakers
  • supportive counselling
  • lunch & learn

  • groups
  • presentation

    Application: Call or walk-in * no referral required
    Eligibility / Target Population: Women 16 and older and their children
    Languages: English ; French
    Language Notes: Partnership with le Centre Victoria pour femmes to ensure Francophone women are served in French
    Area Served: Wawa; Hornepayne; White River; Chapleau; Dubreuillville and all First Nations
