Service Description:
|
Physiotherapy
- improves joint range of motion, posture, motor control, balance and functional abilities through a prescribed exercise program
- offers information on how to prevent maintain or improve physical function
- focuses on the causes of falls and how to prevent them
- determines effective assistive devices to improve safety of individuals such as walkers, canes or crutches
- provides training allowing maximum function and independence
- assists individuals with government-funded programs such as Assistive devices program and prescribes mobility aids suitable for individuals needs
- assists with pain relief
Occupational therapy
- offers comprehensive treatment programs by assessing physical , cognitive, psycho-emotional and functional status of individuals
- assesse individuals in their environment to advise on safety issues
- prescribe and train on assistive aids allowing individuals to function well in their environments
- educates on pacing, pain management and body mechanics
- determines eligibility for government funding for home safety equipment and home adaptations
