Launch of Let’s Wipe Out Colon Cancer Campaign

SUDBURY,ON –  It is one of the most common forms of cancer and one of the most deadly, but it has one of the highest cure rates if detected early.

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in men and third-leading cause of cancer death in women, but has a 90 per cent chance of being cured if detected early through regular screening.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

The Northeast Cancer Centre, Loblaw Companies Limited, the Canadian Cancer Society and local public health units in northeastern Ontario are teaming up on a new campaign called “Let’s Wipe Out Colon Cancer  to encourage more people 50 years of age and over to get screened for colorectal cancer.
