February 19, 2015 – Sault Area Hospital (SAH) officially launched its newly-developed
Strategic Plan at an event today. The event included presentations by the SAH
staff and Board, and a special presentation by a member of the Patient and
Family Advisory Council.
“This Strategic Plan outlines the hospital’s road map for the next five
years with the goal of delivering our patients’ vision of SAH and health care
in 2020,” says Ron Gagnon, President & CEO. Through the strategic planning process,
almost 500 people contributed to the new Strategic Plan, including patients,
family members, staff, physicians, volunteers, members of the community,
bargaining agents, referral and peer hospitals, primary care providers, health
policymakers, local and provincial members of government and many others.
Using these insights, SAH also developed a new Mission statement – Exceptional people working together to
provide outstanding care in Algoma – and a strategic framework for the next
five years. This framework closely aligns to the themes of exceptional people,
working together, and outstanding care. “This Strategic Plan builds off of past
plans and supports SAH’s vision of being recognized as the best hospital in
Canada and an active partner in the best community health care system in the
country,” says Gagnon.
The Plan is a living document which will be reviewed and refreshed
annually to ensure it continually adapts to the ever-changing landscape in
health care and ensures that actions will result in the best possible care as
close to home as possible.
“We thank everyone who participated in the consultation process. This valuable
input has enabled care providers and leaders to make thoughtful choices. It has
assisted in identifying the community’s greatest health needs and prioritizing
efforts in order to build a strong hospital and health care system for the future.”
