HSN Celebrates their Nurses for National Nursing Week

SUDBURY, ON –  Monday, May 12th marks the first day of National Nursing Week in Ontario. All week long, HSN will recognizing and thanking our amazing nursing staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to ongoing patient centred care and wellbeing.

“Nurses work in many capacities in our health care system, but at its core nursing is practice profession, we want to celebrate all nurses their knowledge, skill and the hard work they do every day to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care,” says David McNeil, Vice President Clinical Programs & Chief Nursing Officer.

This year’s theme – Celebrate Nurses: A Leading Force for Change recognizes the outstanding work that Nurses do on a daily basis. It reminds staff, volunteers, patients and the public that our Nurses work hard and are innovators in health care in our community. In support of our theme staff were asked to Nominate a Nurse that they felt was a Leader for Change at HSN. Nurses were nominated from a wide range of departments and were presented with a certificate.

“I feel honoured to be nominated as a Nurse who leads Change by one of my peers”, says Chantal Lamothe, RN Clinical Informatics Team.  “I feel that giving staff the opportunity to nominate their own peers is important because we can recognize each other for the work we are doing at HSN”.

National Nursing Week begins on May 12th in honour of Florence Nightingales birthday. She was well known for the care she provided to the British Soldiers in the Crimean War and is considered the founder of modern nursing.

HSN is pleased to honor our Nurses this week.
