These services may or may not be regulated in Ontario. For services that are not specifically regulated, Consumer Protection Ontario provides guidance on consumer rights, public safety, and how to address concerns or serious complaints.

Some of these services are governed by legislation in Ontario and the regulatory body is the Ministry of the Solicitor General. The legislation for police services is the Police Services Act, 1990.
