Service Description: Social assistance program that provides employment assistance and financial support for basic needs

Basic financial assistance (Ontario Works)
  • short term income assistance for the cost of shelter and basic needs including food and clothing
  • offers limited Emergency Assistance and Discretionary Benefits

Employment assistance
  • helps people become and stay employed
  • provides assistance with job search, basic education, employment placement, skills training, community participation
  • assistance may be provided to clients to cover certain related expenses such as transportation, child care and clothing


Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) - Monthly credit to help cover electricity bills, based on household income and the number of people living in the home * other levels of assistance may be available for Indigenous households, homes with medical equipment that have high-energy needs, and homes heated through electricity * call or visit OntarioElectricitySupport.ca to apply online
