Service Description:
|
Health centre focused on family and community health * health professionals assess and treat non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses * referrals to other local health services and personal development groups available on and off reserves
Community-led health teams develop programs to improve the social supports and conditions that affect long-term health * culturally appropriate programs and services for Indigenous people, combining traditional healing and Western medical practices
Priority populations include all Indigenous, Métis and Inuit People in the City of Greater Sudbury, as well as people and families from partner First Nations, Wahnapitae, Henvey Inlet, and Magnetawan
Child and Youth Program - Assists youth and children needing one-on-one help with specific issue affecting them, including obesity, bullying, or school struggle
Child Life Program - Child Life Specialists (CLS) work specifically in health care settings to promote effective coping through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities
Clinical Medical Services - Family doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurse provide primary health care services, education, and health promotion
Fitness and Recreation - Exercise to strengthen muscles, the heart, and the lungs * gentle programs for older adults
Health Education Promotion Program - Programs run by the health promoter * Lunch N Learns, Fitness, Women's Life Change Series, Nutritional Work Shop Series, and smoking cessation group support
Healthy Choices Program - Focuses on child nutrition and
children affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) * includes
Parent Support Circle, Family Drop-in, Children’s Drum Support Circle,
Community Kitchen, Nutritional Workshop, Family Support Group (families
with member living with FASD), Cultural Workshops, and Parenting Group
Maternal Child Health - Supports for pregnant women and families with infants * counselling to discuss breastfeeding, nutrition, safety, child development, and parenting
Smoking Cessation - Group support to help quit smoking
Traditional Healing - Indigenous healing methods to restore balance and connectedness * holistic approach for people, family, and community health * one-on-one sessions, traditional spiritual ceremonies, and cultural workshops that support social, artistic, and intellectual traditions
