Service Description: Provides a range of evidence-based, best practice mental health services for children and youth and their families * provides initial intake, assessment and consultations for children and youth with complex needs or emotional, psychological or behavioural difficulties

Programs and services include the following:

Mental health for children 0 to 6 years: Provides early identification, intervention and treatment services for young children in community settings * services includes: assessment, individual, family or group counseling, service coordination, parent skill development, support, advocacy and consultation

Cognitive therapy clinic: Provides intervention services to children and adolescents who are struggling with issues that interfere with their daily functioning * addresses mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma reactions * focuses on decreasing stress, improve self-control, increase self-awareness and enhance family functioning

Intensive treatment services: Comprehensive treatment program designed to serve multi-problem children and youth in their community

Crisis follow-up services: Provided to children and youth aged 6-17 years only upon referral from the Sault Area Hospital Crisis Intervention Unit and who have been assessed as having high risk mental health issues

Crisis response: Offered to children and youth, up to the age of 18, who are at significant risk of harm as a result of their emotional health

School-based day treatment program: Assists children and youth in managing difficulties with respect to their emotional, social, and behavioural development to prepare them to function within the regular school programs

Start program: Teaches students life skills and behaviour skills that will assist with retention, and a positive, successful reintegration into regular classes

Child and youth telepsychiatry: Provides psychiatric consultation with a Child Psychiatrist from Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital by videoconference

Rebound North: Helps youths from grade 7 to grade 12 develop skills that promote a positive response to themselves, others and their community * enables them to make sound decisions, set goals and develop a sense of personal responsibility

Summer day camp: Offered to children ages 9-17 who are not able to participate in regular summer camps due to their behavioural difficulties
