BRAMPTON — The Ontario government is taking the next steps in its plan to expand access to fertility care as part of its
historic $250 million investment to help more families access life-changing fertility treatment. Through this next phase, the province is investing $100 million in 2026/27 to support 27 clinics across Ontario, including two new in vitro fertilization (IVF) clinics, helping to shorten wait times and connect thousands of families to fertility services in both hospital and community settings.
“There’s no role more special or important than being a parent, which is why our government is shortening wait times by making fertility care more accessible for thousands of Ontarians,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will help more Ontarians receive publicly funded IVF services where and when they need them, while protecting the Ontario Fertility Program.”
Minister Jones made the announcement at Astra Fertility, a new clinic that integrates modern technology, patient-centred design and will help 350 Ontarians access publicly funded IVF services. In addition to Astra, the province is also funding Halton Fertility and Women’s Health Centre, helping expand access to publicly funded IVF services for 255 new families in Oakville and bringing the total to 27 fertility clinics that support 10,000 families across the province.
This investment builds on the
government’s initial $50 million investment in 2025/26 and will support clinics to deliver an estimated 10,000 additional IVF cycles in 2026/27. A further $100 million will be invested in 2027/28, bringing the province’s total investment to $250 million.
"ASTRA Fertility and Astra Women's Health & Ambulatory Surgery Centre in Brampton are deeply grateful to the Ontario Fertility Program and the Ministry of Health for this vital funding," said Dr. Amanda Michael, Medical Director, Astra Women's Health and Ambulatory Surgery Centre. "This support will expedite expanded access to fertility care in Brampton and our catchment area, helping more families achieve their dreams of parenthood. We commit to using these resources responsibly, delivering exceptional patient care, and driving the best possible outcomes for our community. We are honoured to partner with the Ministry and the Ontario Fertility Program."
