HSN Celebrates Doctors Day

SUDBURY,ON –  May 1st is Doctor’s Day in Ontario, and Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) is celebrating the occasion by honouring the 285 physicians who provide care at HSN.

Every day in Ontario, more than 320,000 patients are treated and cared from by a doctor.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to you, for all that you do at HSN,” says Mike McCann, Chair of HSN’s Board of Directors. “Your commitment to providing safe and quality patient care is key to meeting our mission of improving the health of northerners.”

Health Sciences North would also like to extend their appreciation to Greater Sudbury’s doctors who have been been sharing their time, expertise, and wisdom with medical students and residents—the future generation of physicians. HSN is grateful for their contribution to medical education in this region, and is very fortunate and grateful to have the support and skills of medical learners to enhance patient care.

“Doctors are pillars of the health care system,” says Dr. Chris Bourdon, HSN’s Chief of Staff, Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs, and an Emergency Department physician. “I want to thank my peers for being approachable, available and compassionate with their patients. Every day they do live-saving and life-affirming work.”

To recognize Ontario’s 27,000 practicing physicians, the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) launched its annual Doctors’ Day campaign starting on May 1st. During the month of May, patients and their families are invited to celebrate Doctors’ Day by adding their name through OntariosDoctors.com or by tweeting #PatientsFirst #DocsRock.

A big thank you to all doctors for your dedication and compassion! Thank you for providing safe, quality care to our community.
