Local Restaurants Serve Up Big Donation to Children’s Care at HSN

Sudbury – Local restaurateurs
in Greater Sudbury are doing their S.H.A.R.E to help children’s health care in
the city and across northeastern Ontario.

Today, the twelve independent restaurants which make up the Sudbury Hospitality Association of Restaurant Entrepreneurs (S.H.A.R.E) presented a cheque of over $12,000 to the Health Sciences North Foundation (HSNF).

The funds are being forwarded to the Northeastern Ontario Health Centre for Kids
(NEO Kids) at Health Sciences North.

“On behalf of the  independent restaurants of S.H.A.R.E., we are excited to give back to our community, “says Leslie Moutsatsos, owner of P& M’s Kouzzina and one of the members of the Sudbury Hospitality Association of Restaurant Entrepreneurs. “As business owners we understand that everyone in the community matters, or no one matters. We have to give back to the very people that support us.”

The members of S.H.A.R.E include Alexandria’s Restaurant & Lounge, Apollo
Restaurant and Tavern, Bella Vita Cucina, Di Gusto Pizza and Pasta Restaurant,
Hardrock 42 Gastropub, M.I.C. Canadian Eatery and Whiskey Pub, Mr. Prime Rib,

P & M’s Kouzzina, Pasta e Vino Ristorante, Verdicchio Ristorante/Enoteca,
Teklenberg’s Seafood Restaurant, and Tony V’s Pizza and Restaurant.

S.H.A.R.E and the HSN Foundation were partners in an initiative called Localicious. Between January 5 and February 12, S.H.A.R.E restaurants donated a portion of their sales to HSNF.

“Health Sciences North Foundation would like to thank S.H.A.R.E. for supporting NEO
Kids through Localicious. Every
dollar raised through this initiative will support children’s health care in
our community”, says Mary Lou Hussak, executive director of HSN Foundation.

NEO Kids is HSN’s centre of excellence for children’s outpatient care. Located at
the Ramsey Lake Health Centre, NEO Kids provides over 20 specialized clinics
and services including: allergies, asthma, BALANCE (healthy weights), cystic
fibrosis, cardiology, botox treatment for spasticity management, fetal alcohol
spectrum disorder, MRI sedation, neonatal follow-up, non-oncology infusion,
orthopaedics, pediatric abuse and referral, rheumatology, special procedures, urgent
consults, and newborn care for families who either don’t have a family
physician or whose family physician does not have hospital privileges. NEO Kids
also houses the offices of Greater Sudbury’s five pediatricians.

NEO Kids has over 25,000 patient visits a year.

“I want to thank S.H.A.R.E and the HSN Foundation for this wonderful donation to
NEO Kids, “says Dr. Sean Murray, a pediatrician and Medical Director of HSN’s
Family and Child Program. “We need to have robust pediatric services here
because children are our future, and kids and their families shouldn’t have to
leave the north to get the care they need.”

“NEO Kids has made a difference for our family and in our son Luca’s life because we
are able to receive medical services here in Sudbury without having to travel
and have the expense of going down south,” adds Alicia Maschio, whose
23-month-old son Luca receives care through NEO Kids.
