Medical Research to be highlighted in North Bay

[NORTH BAY, ON]

- Researchers and health professionals will converge on North Bay on Friday September 5, 2014, to share their work for the improvement of health in the North.
The North Bay Regional Health Centre is pleased to host its 3rd annual Research Conference – Innovation, Collaboration and Transformation.

The conference will highlight projects underway from community-based researchers, students, residents, and health professionals. It will provide opportunities for collaboration and networking amongst participants coming from across Northern Ontario.
We anticipate that this conference will help contribute to a vibrant health research industry and support the establishment of Northern Ontario as a major contributor to the global health research sector.

We invite media to attend the welcome remarks and keynote speaker presentation.

Keynote Address
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Detecting Signals from Noise: on the Challenges of Screening in the Early Years This presentation discusses challenges and opportunities related to early detection of developmental delay in children. This session will highlight the major challenges clinicians face in providing these diagnostic assessments and the findings and importance of using a parent screening tool.


Speaker: Dr. John Cairney, McMaster University, McMaster Family Medicine Professorship in Child Health, Research Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and Kinesiology at McMaster
University.
