Website helps Northerners better connect with hundreds of home and community care services

January 3, 2018 -- Meal delivery, transportation, palliative care – Northerners can find information about these and other support services in one spot.

The location is www.northeasthealthline.ca. This website was developed with the support of the North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN). It is a resource for patients, caregivers, health care providers, and anyone wanting to learn more about the many health services available in communities across Northeastern Ontario.

Here’s what people will find on the site:

• A list of PLACES where they can go to receive health care – such as hospitals, mental health services, community health centres, and community health service providers.
• SERVICES they can access close to home.
• Health-related EVENTS happening in their community – like support group gatherings and meetings.
• Health RESOURCES – where they can find a flu clinic, learn more about strokes, or get mental health information.
• Up-to-date health care NEWS.
• A listing of health care CAREERS.
Another available online resource on this website is connect.NorthEasthealthline.ca which connects Northerners to the home and community care or mental health and addiction services they need to stay healthy and independent at home. Northerners will also find a common referral form on the site, which they can use to either self-refer or refer others to services delivered by North East LHIN-funded health service providers.

“NorthEasthealthline.ca provides easy access to health care services people may need,” said Kate Fyfe, Interim CEO, North East LHIN. “It’s important to make it easier for Northerners to be aware of health services available to them in their communities, and how they can benefit from those services.”

NorthEasthealthline.ca offers accurate, up-to-date information about more than 1,200 health services available in communities across Northeastern Ontario. Because people can search by city, postal code, or district, they are able to see what’s available near them – and in any other area of the region. Programs and services can also be searched through keyword, alphabetical listings, or by category.
